Um von Hamburg nach Köln zu kommen, war es wieder an der Zeit einen Rastplatz aufzusuchen und Schilder zu basteln. Der gesamte Trip bis Köln war längst nicht so easy wie nach Hamburg.
Nach einer kleinen Rast bei, wer hätte es gedacht, McDonalds, machten wir den erneuten Fehler hungrig einkaufen zu gehen (war die Tage nicht das erste Mal). Jedoch hielt sich der Einkauf in Grenzen und wir stiegen anschließend in einen verspäteten Bus. Die Fahrt sollte eigentlich 2:30 h dauern, letztendlich waren wir kurz nach 12 Uhr Mitternacht am Köln/Bonn Flughafen. Der Regen war vorrüber und wir suchten uns ein mehr oder weniger gemütliches Plätzchen im Erholungspark Leidenhausen. Dort schlugen wir unser Camp auf und suchten die Nachtruhe. In der Dunkelheit hatten wir keinen Schimmer, wo wir da eigentlich sind. Es war irgendwo zwische einer Autobahn und der Zugverbindung zwischen Köln und dem Flughafen.

Am frühen morgen nutzte ich die Gunst der Stunde, um das nasse Überzelt aufzuhängen, während zwei Joggerinen anhielten und mich fragten, ob es nicht zu kalt und nass wäre hier draußen zu zelten. Sie gaben mir den Tipp, die nahe gelegenen Schutzhütten aufzusuchen. Diesem Vorschlag gingen wir später nach und trockneten die Zelte und aßen Kartoffelsuppe aus der Dose :p
Im weiteren Verlauf fuhren wir nach Köln und trafen uns abends mit unserem Host. Er holte uns quasi zurück in die Zivilisation und gab uns interessanten Input über Köln, natürlich bei einem leckeren Kölsch! 🙂

Zu Fuß ging es zu den Rhein-Terrassen, wo sich dann auch die Sonne blicken ließ. Zu erkunden gab es die Hohenzollernbrücke mit den vielen Liebesschlössern, den Dom und die Altstadt. Nahe gelegen sind auch die Kranhäuser und das Schokoladenmuseum. Ein besonderer und auch romantischer Tipp ist die Aussicht vom Triangle-Tower. Dabei entstand auch das folgende Foto:

Gegen Abend trafen wir unseren Host an den Rhein-Terrassen und gönnten uns wieder ein paar Kölsch (Früh). Zum Abschluss ging es in eine lokale Kneipe, die das Sünner Kölsch ausschank. Insgesamt soll es ca. 25 verschiedene Kölsch Sorten geben. Da liegen also noch ein paar vor mir 😀
Für Köln hatten wir letztendlich nur einen vollen Tag. Eins steht fest, ich werde definitiv Köln ein zweites Mal besuchen, da auch noch der Stadtteil Ehrenfeld entdeckt werden muss (: Die Stadt versprühte ein besseres Flair als Hamburg. Besonders interessant ist die Dominanz des Rheins, der direkt durch die Stadt fließt und somit eine zentrale Anlaufstelle darstellt.

Das Trempen geht weiter. Der Pott lag hinter uns und die Weiterreise sollte einfacher verlaufen. Nächster Stop liegt in der Pfalz, eine kleinere Stadt in der Nähe von Landau.
Wir fuhren mit den Öffentlichen zum Kölner Südkreuz (Autobahn), dort ist eine Tankstelle mit ordentlich Verkehr. Es dauerte nicht lange und ein Auto nahm uns erstmal mit nach Bonn. Dort wurden wir in Bonn-Beuel rausgelassen, leider wieder runter von der Autobahn. Wir liefen zur nächsten Tankstelle und hatten Glück, dass MYK (Mayen-Koblenz) die richtige Richtung war. Damit waren wir auf der A61, die direkt nach Mannheim führt. Zentraler Zielpunkt für diesen Tag. Nach einer kurzen Stärkung, bei Burger King und einem Schild für Mannheim, ging es erneut auf die Suche. Bei einem vorbeifahrenden Wagen, mit dem Kennzeichen HCH (Hechingen), hielt ich random das Schild hoch und siehe da, die Fahrt ging weiter.
In Mannheim angekommen, ging es von dort zu meinen Verwandten ins tiefe Pfälzer Innenland. Nachdem ich das letzte Mal vor ca. 5 Jahren dort war, war es ein schönes Gefühl alle wiederzusehen (:
