(291017) Lisbon -> Faro, PT
After we came back to Lisbon from Sintra, we had to get our stuff from the hostel and meet our ride at Marquis de Pombal. The ride was at 9 PM so we were in Faro at midnight. Because we had no place to stay our driver helped us finding a suitable place. There was a park near the airport inside we tried to find a protected place. After a few minutes of walking we had a cool place in the middle of the darkness. The place must be cleaned a bit before starting to camp. As we were preparing the space some dogs started barking and the sound came closer and closer…until we realised the puffing in front of us. But we could not see anything, just heard something. We stayed calm and stood there frozen for a while. As the dogs seemed to be away we put our stuff together to look for a new place. The adrenalin kept us awake for further two hours. Meanwhile it was 3 AM. The next place was not even better because we were to close to a private ground with, wondering, dogs again. Anyways, we spent the night there and waited until the sunrise…

The night was too crazy. I woke up with the first sunrays and it became hotter and hotter. It was very interesting to see the area with daylight. At night we just orientated with a flash light and the moon.
We put our stuff together and walked to the street right next to the airport that goes directly to the beach, Praia de Faro. A friendly local woman picked us up so we did not need to walk the 3 km. The only thing we did the rest of the day was hanging around.
You can see our base and the beach (:

During the day we found a place to stay with a host and moved there after the sunset. It was a great feeling to know to not sleep outside again, with the dogs.

Faro itself is not a big city. You can walk around within a day. The beach is a little bit far from the center of Faro. On the map you can see that the city is half surrounded by the Natural Park of Ria Formosa.

The train ride from Faro to Lagos cost 5.50 Euro with discount (normal 7.30 Euro) that we decided to drive to Lagos and the cliffs. There you are in the middle of the Algarve and it was amazing as well as beautiful. I will show you what I mean (:

We spent the whole day there with walking and climbing up and down the cliffs. It was so good to do some sports like this. You have several hidden beaches between the cliffs, you only can reach by boat or walking through the cliffs. We also found the way to the naked beach.
In the late afternoon we still had some time that we walked a bit through the city center. There is still a night life in Lagos that it must be nice to spend some days in this city.

Well, this day was full of nothing. Some things that procrastinated for a while should be done and after the day in Lagos our muscles needed a rest 😀
On tomorrow the plan was to head over to Spain…but this turned into a long adventure.
